daily reports from the ride on the 'journey' page After The Ride, a message from Paul to all the people who have shown there support.
Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Paul O'Brien and in May 2006 I cycled from Lands End to John O Groats in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Research. This charity means so much to myself and my family as my 3 year old son, Keown, was diagnosed with having Becker Muscular Dystrophy in August 2005. There is no cure for this at present and that's why I set myself a challenge to do something to help. I wanted to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Muscular Dystrophy Research to help them find a cure for people like my son and the thousands of others who this cruel disease affects. We have initially set a target of £5000 and managed to raise of that during the ride. This figure doesn't include a number of donations we received from various supporting businesses that went straight to MD research, that we hadn't included in our target for the ride. If we can raise even more then that would be fantastic! If you would like to make a donation, however small, we have set up a 'Just Giving' account, a secure way of donating money to a worthy cause online. You can reach this page and make a donation by clicking here. You will find my contact details on the 'contacts' page if you would like to get in touch directly. I will be updating the 'journey' page during the ride so you can follow it day by day. |
