Hi, everybody.

After a long journey back home from John O Groats I was tired and sore but it was good to be home to see my wife and children who I had missed really badly. I had a lovely welcome when I got home my brother-in-law was waiting for me with a nice cold beer. The champagne is still on ice at the moment but when I open it I will remember the journey and why I have done it.

The journey itself is one to remember.

All the training I done before the cycle ride had helped me in a great way. Without it I don’t think I would have done a single day yet alone done the whole trip in 9 days. I would like to thank my brother in law Ed who got up early on a Sunday morning to come training with me and for all his help and support throughout the event. I would like to personally thank Jarvis for giving me the pass to use all the facilities in the cold months when the weather was not good to go out on my bike.

I would like to thank my wife for all hard work in the run up to the ride and all the support she had shown to me through out it. Thanks.

I would like to thank my sister Jane and brother in law Kev for all there help with the backup at the beginning and for all there help with the maps. And for putting up with me when times where hard. Thank you to you both.

Rob my mate, thanks for the beer it was a nice cooling present I forgot how good it tastes. Thanks mate.

I would like to personally thank everyone from all over the world that sent me messages of support and well wishes.

Dale a big thank you for all your support and encouragement through out the journey you had been a great help to me. Good luck to yourself on your journey dale which starts on the 1st June and hope the weather is kinder to you. Keep safe and take care.

I would like to personally thank everybody who kindly sent there well wishes of support and sponsored me throughout the journey, my family ,friends, neighbours, work colleagues and the staff at Manchester University, everybody on the just giving website etc etc. People who I have never met but took the time to write and to donate to the charity, you are all very special people and you all made the journey worth while. I will always be grateful to you all.

With the help of each and everyone of you, Muscular Dystrophy Research will be a little closer to finding a cure for people like my son and many of thousands of others around the world.

My mind is racing at the moment on what to do next? So watch this space. Or if you have any suggestions please feel free to email me.

I will sign of now by saying my bottom hurts! (he he he he)

Paul O'Brien.
